I AM That I AM
The moment you were born, as you took your first breath, the awareness of your own existence came into your mind, as in that first moment, you began to think. You became aware that you existed. "I am" was your first thought.
At that moment, as your eyes began to focus on the world and as you became aware of your own individual existence, the thought, "I am", was the most pure essence of your being; of your individuality; as close as your breath. Your were sure of nothing but that you did, in fact, exist. With that first realization, you did not find fault or experience feelings of shame, guilt or fear. In the first moments of your life you experienced a pure state of being, of intense wonder, as you saw the world for the first time.
Then as time passed and you began to grow and mature, your thoughts of yourself became more complicated, as you began to identify with those around you; your parents and siblings, your teachers, your friends and even your enemies. You began to have a real opinion of yourself that
shaped you as you grew. Now what if you could erase those opinions of yourself that you learned after that f irst moment?
What if you discovered that the real you is all
powerful, all knowing, and eternal? What if the opinions of others were all wrong? And what if you discovered that within you there is a deeper consciousness and that you are united in spirit with the all knowing, all powerful and ever present creator of the universe? And what if you discovered that you are constantly guided through life; given clear instructions and signs that up to now, you have
never seen, heard or realized were there. And what if by simply coming to a few realizations (or revelations) you could live the kind of life that up until now you have only dreamed about? Well, it's true; and all you have to do is to remember and become aware of who you really are.
Did you know that to accomplish your biggest dreams, you need nothing? Nothing physical, that is. Within you is everything, completely everything you need to succeed.
And its so simple that you have never realized it.
For from nothing, comes creation. Creation begins with a thought, with a realization. You only have to let go and forget what youve learned. Forget who you are for a moment.
You can be certain of nothing but I am. This is certain. You exist.
In the beginning of the Holy Bible, God shares this great secret; the secret of His mystical connection with mankind. We are shown the way and the means by which we can have a powerful and prosperous life simply by remembering our true identity, by establishing our relationship to our creator and reclaiming our God given power and place in life.
"And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I
come unto the children of Israel, and shall say
unto them, the god of your fathers hath sent
me unto you; and they shall say to me, what is
his name, what shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses I AM THAT I AM;
and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the
children of Israel. I AM hath sent me unto you.
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus
shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the
Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath
sent me unto you; this is my name FOREVER
and this IS my MEMORIAL unto all
generations."
Exodus 3:13-15
In this verse, as Moses asks God what His true name is,God replies to him that His name is I AM THAT I AM, and instructs Moses to tell the world that I AM is His name forever and will be a memorial to mankind for all generations.
The words I AM THAT I AM are in all caps in this verse. When God instructs Moses to tell the children of Israel that I AM has sent him, notice in this verse that Gods name is again in all caps. This does not happen anywhere else in the bible, so it must be capitalized for a veryimportant reason. God is proclaiming his true name!
This is the f irst place in the Holy Bible that he reveals this. He further states that this is his name forever. Do you think that God was exaggerating when he said, forever?
Or when He said, this is my name for all generations? No!
There is no other way to interpret the word, forever,
than that it means just that. And all generations, would certainly have to include our generation.
Gods true name, as He tells Moses, which is I AM That I AM, or I AM, is the most clear and def ining name which describes Him as pure being, existing outside of time and space. He is in the present all the time; ever-present. He is omniscient; knowing all things. In Hebrew this name is YHWH, which no one is quite sure exactly how to pronounce. The most popular pronunciation is Yahweh, orYehovah.
But for the purpose of this writing, we will use
the English translation, I AM That I AM, or I AM.
So if this is such an important and powerful revelation, why is it that in the rest of the Old Testament, this sacred and holy name of God is not mentioned again? The truth is, that throughout the Old Testament, which was written in Hebrew; I AM That I AM (which is the English translation of the Hebrew name, YHWH) is the name that appeared in the Hebrew scrolls; the scriptures from whichthe Holy Bible was written.
This name, revealed by God Himself to Moses as His true name, actually appeared nearly 7,000 times in the original Hebrew scriptures of the Old Testament, but this name, the true name of God, wasdeliberately left out by the Hebrew scholars who translated the original scriptures to write the Holy Bible, and was replaced with the words LORD and GOD, written in large and small capital letters.
This habit was continued down the line with each new translation, up to the present day, and the versions of the Holy Bible that we have today still use the word LORD or GOD, denoted by large and small capital letters, as a replacement for YHWH, or I AM That I AM.
In other words, throughout the entire Old Testament, the
original Hebrew text where the word LORD is written,
really should read, I AM That I AM,, or I AM, when
translated into English, as the name for God.
This Hebrew name, YHWH, or in English, I AM,
This Hebrew name, YHWH, or in English, I AM, as
previously noted, appears throughout the Old Testament nearly 7,000 times! In fact, nearly every time in the Old Testament that Gods name is mentioned, it is written as LORD, or GOD, because the priests and monks who translated the Old Testament believed that I AM was such a holy and sacred name that they decided not to print it in the Old Testament due to its reverence and replaced it with the words, LORD, and GOD.
While the Hebrew monks and priests may have felt it important to protect the holy name of God, at the same time, the true name of God, I AM, (YHWH) has been hidden from most people for centuries! This is a huge discrepancy! Leaving the name of God out of the Holy Bible is not only an act of complete disrespect, but if God revealed His name to mankind, it was for a very important reason.
In the glossary of the King James Version of the Holy Bible, this discrepancy in the translation of Gods name is explained:
Yahweh: the covenant God of Israel, YHWH in
the original Hebrew. According to Jewish
custom, because of reverence, the divine name
was not to be spoken, so the Hebrew words for
Lord and God were substituted. Whenever the
words LORD and GOD appear in large and small
capital letters, the original Hebrew reads
YHWH. (King James Version, Holy Bible).
This cover-up of God's true name has gone on for
centuries, and its about time to finally reveal the truth; the most Holy name of God, as He revealed it to Moses in the Old Testament. After all, a lie perpetuated destroys the truth!
God certainly must have wanted mankind to know His
name. He commanded Moses to tell His people that this was His name for all generations to remember. In the Old Testament, if we read it correctly, everywhere the word LORD or GOD appears in English, in large and small capital letters, it should read I AM or I AM THAT I AM, (YHWH in Hebrew). While there is some dispute among biblical scholars and historians as to the correct pronunciation of YHWH, it is usually agreed that the English translation of YHWH is I AM, or I AM that I AM. Its this translation that gives mankind the true revelation from God, as He emphatically instructs Moses to repeat it to the children of Israel. Centuries later, Jesus also claimed this name for God. Jesus told his disciples that he came to manifest the name of God. He taught them about the Holy Spirit and explained that our spirit is one with the spirit of God.
When you realize that the name YHWH or I AM has been replaced in the Old Testament with the word, LORD, you gain a better understanding of God, and a better understanding of the scriptures.
"And in that day shall ye say, Praise YHWH, call upon His name, declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted.
Sing unto YHWH; for He hath done excellent things; this is known in all the Earth."
Isaiah 12:4-5
With this spiritual connection comes a more intimate connection with God, as you realize that the I AM within is none other than the Holy Spirit of God, I AM, the Creator, from which we were created. We were created in His image. We live in Him and through Him. This is very exciting news, especially coupled with the fact that Jesus came here to glorify and manifest Gods name, and that his name in Hebrew is Yeshua, or Yehushua, which is composed of the same letters as YHWH, but with the Hebrew letters for S and A, added. In the New Testament, Jesus refers to Gods name; I AM, when he says,
"Before Abraham was, I AM."
Jesus is revealing Gods name and the fact that He is
eternal. If we look for a moment at the actual Hebrew
name for God, as it was originally revealed in the Old
Testament, the Hebrew, written from right to left is
YHWH, or the Hebrew letters, Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey. Jesus,
or Yeshua, as it is truly pronounced, is written as
YHSWHA, or Yeshua, which means, YHWH saves.
